The use of Idioms in the English and French languages

The foregoing determined the relevance of the chosen topic.

The aim of the course work is to explore the features and differences in the use of idioms in British English, American English and French.

In accordance with this goal, it is necessary to solve a number of tasks, such as:

- to consider the general concept of idioms;

- to reveal the place of idioms in the language system;

- to characterize intercultural understanding from the point of view of idiomatics and linguistics;

- to explain the difference between the idioms of British English and American English;

- to analyze the difference between English and French idioms.

The object of the research is idioms as a turn of speech, the subject is the peculiarities of their application in various languages.

The structure of the work is determined by the purpose and objectives of the study. Course work consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion and a list of used sources.
